PORTFOLIO OF WORK
This section shows examples of different tracks in different genres that I have recorded, mixed and mastered. There is also a description and information about the gear used and the conditions of the pre and post production. You can also check them on my soundcloud here. You can also access a playlist with an A-B Comparison between the roughly mixed and final mastered tracks here. Please, bear in mind that the first 4 tracks were recorded and mixed at my home studio (Funky Garden Studio) with a MOTU Traveler MK1 audio interface, a pair of M-Audio BX5 speakers and an ADT 4033a mic.
URBAN POP EXAMPLE
Editing, Recording & Mixing by Marios Imprachim-Chana @ Funkey Garden Studio (my home studio).
Mastering by Marios Imprachim Chana @ Sweetspot Studio
In this track I aimed to provide sufficient information in the low end to be able to fill the subwoofer of a professional audio system, without sounding muddy. I also aimed to bring the vocal delivery and the rap parts up front in the mix and make the mid and high frequency range sound crispy but smooth without narrowing the stereo image.
CONTEMPORARY FOLK EXAMPLE
Editing, Recording, Mixing & Additional Pre-Production by Marios Imprachim-Chana @ Funkey Garden Studio (my home studio).
Mastering by Marios Imprachim Chana @ Sweetspot Studio
This track combines electronic elements such as synths etc. with acoustic elements ( bagpipes, accordeon, accoustic guitar, percusssion) recorded by me at home. I aimed to provide an up front and aggresive sound, busy in the mid range and the top end, which most of the used acoustic elements occupy. I looked for a clean low end and some pump in my microdynamics. On the other hand, I used volume and effect automation in many elements of the track to make it breath and sound more natural.

That's a beatbox style "Michael Jackson cover" performed by Steven Aderinto. All the elements come straight away out of his mouth. In this case, I wanted to separate the elements between each other and aim for width and depth through the mix. I also wanted to emphasize the "pump" and groove of the track and make music breathe once again. My customer wanted the track sound as it was performed by a beatboxer, so I respected his vision and tried to make each element sound like an authentic "beatbox", but in a higher quality.
ROCK EXAMPLE
Vocal, Guitars, Bass Recording, Additional Pre-Production, Editing and Mixing by Marios Imprachim-Chana @ Funkey Garden Studio (my home studio)
Drum recording by Marios Imprachim-Chana @ Nekyia Studios
Additional re-amping for Guitars, Bass, and Lead Vocals through an Avalon 737 SP and a Minprint DTC by Marios Imprachim-Chana @ Lizard Studios
Mastering by Marios Imprachim Chana @ Sweetspot Studio
This is a Rock Power balad with the drums recorded at Nekyia studios (GR), using the standard Shure microphone kit for drums down to logic 9, through a Presonus Firestudio Audio Interface and an Avalon 737 Sp. The vocals and electric guitars were recorded at my home studio. Additional re-amping for the lead vocals, acoustic, electric guitars and bass through an avalon 737 SP and a Mindprint DTC took place in Lizard Studios (GR). In this case, I tried to give the feel, liveness and aggression of a rock gig, while aiming for a wide stereo image.
JAZZ EXAMPLE
Editing, Recording & Mixing by Marios Imprachim-Chana @ Birmingham Conservatoire Studio 1
Mastering by Marios Imprachim Chana @ Funkey Garden studio
In this case, I recorded all the instruments at the same time in the same room down to protools 7 through a Yamaha 02R 96 Desk at Birmingham Conservatoire Studio 1. My main aim was to make the musicians feel confortable in the live room, be able to see each other and sound natural through the final mix without sacrificing clarity. I also wanted to keep their dynamics natural but a tiny bit more controlled.
